F.A.Q's

1. Why is whey a superior source of protein than soy or other plant source proteins?
Whey has a different (better) amino acid profile (same as human muscle tissue) which means it has far higher human nutritional value. Secondly, extreme hydrolyzed whey (Proto Whey) is virtually 100% absorbed. Conversely, soy protein has a different molecular structure which humans are not designed to absorb, giving it on average only 10-15% absorption. If you don't absorb it, your body eliminates it as waste.

2. Why does Proto Whey absorb on average 3-6 times better than other products?
Proto Whey is already reduced (hydrolyzed) to the molecule size necessary for absorption. Other products and foods need to be fully hydrolyzed after they are consumed, a process which rarely completes in the human gut leaving unabsorbed protein.

3. Will additional protein help me feel more energy?
Energy production (Krebs or ATP Cycle) requires high levels of glutamine as well as certain other protein metabolites. The hydrolysates in Proto Whey have the highest levels of glutamine and required protein metabolites of any protein source. In addition, Proto Whey has added gram amounts of glutamine giving it even higher potential for increased energy production.

4. Most protein drinks and meal replacement formulas have poor chalky taste. What about Proto Whey?
Proto Whey is very different in that it does not mix into a thick, pasty drink. It has a light feel and refreshing taste.

5. Mixing protein shakes is such a hassle. Does Proto Whey mix easily?
Yes, no blender is necessary. A few seconds of shaking or swift spoon stirring prior to drinking is all that is necessary.

6. Why is Proto Whey more expensive than other protein supplements?
With 3-6 times the absorption of other protein supplements, the cost per serving of absorbed protein for Proto Whey is actually less (if it's not absorbed, it is eliminated as waste and contributes zero nutritional value).

7. The label states that virtually all of the 4 grams of fat in a serving of Proto Whey are MCTs. What are MCTs?
MCTs are Medium Chain Triglycerides which cannot be converted or stored as body fat or attach to arterial or cardiac tissue. MCTs aid in digestion of protein and all other foods and supplements and contribute to overall health of intestinal tissue.

8. Why is Proto Whey the only 100% whey hydrolysate protein I can find?
Though Proto Whey hydrolysates are far superior nutritionally, their natural taste is too bitter for consumption. BioNutritional Research Group has developed the only unique and proprietary flavoring process available for hydrolyzed protein and thus it is the only product of its type on the market.

9. All the protein supplements I have used cause stomach bloating and gas. Why is Proto Whey any different?
It is undigested protein that causes bloating and gas. 40-65% of non-hydrolyzed protein supplements and foods are not absorbed and end up as residue in the gut. Proto Whey is completely absorbed leaving virtually no residue and no bloating or gas.

Power Crunch®

1. Is Power Crunch good for children?
There are no age restrictions on the consumption of Power Crunch. In fact it is by far one of the best snack alternatives for children because it delivers exceptional low carb, high protein nourishment with incredible and genuine cookie taste and texture.

2. How many "Net Carbs" are in Power Crunch cookies?
There is no valid science behind the "Net Carb" statements on many products. The true amount of carbs in any product is listed in the Nutrition Facts Panel. With 8-9g of carbs, Power Crunch has by far lower total carbs (50-75% less) than other bars or cookie products on the market including Atkins and other "diet" products. Just be sure to read the Nutrition Facts Panel for actual carb content instead of "Net Carb" advertising found elsewhere on the package.

3. Sugar alcohols lower the "Net Carbs". Why don't you use sugar alcohol to lower Power Crunch "Net Carbs"?
With the exception of erythritol, which is rarely used, sugar alcohols (maltitol, glycerol, xylitol, mannitol, etc.) provide almost as many calories per gram as any other sugar or carbohydrate and are very hard on the stomach causing gas pains, diarrhea and nausea. "Net Carb" statements are misleading and not accepted by the FDA or any reputable scientist due to this fact. Artificial sweeteners are the only sweeteners which are not carbs and are calorie free.

4. Why do some nutritional bars have more protein than Power Crunch for about the same or lower price?
The nutritional value of the 14 grams of Proto Whey protein in Power Crunch equates to roughly 30 or more grams of protein in other products.

5. Are there any trans-fatty acids in Power Crunch?
Currently, due to the vegetable shortening in Power Crunch, there are 0.5-1.5 grams of trans fat per cookie depending on the flavor. We are in the process of removing all trans fats and are committed to completing this by the end of 2005.

6. Why do you have hydrogenated oils in it?
The shortening in Power Crunch is the source of this and is necessary for the manufacturing of the cookie. Until very recently there were no viable options. Again, we are in the process of removing all hydrogenated oils which are the source of the trans fat as well.

7. Is Power Crunch safe for diabetics?
Any person with diabetes should always consult their physician or health professional before consuming any product with carbohydrate content. Power Crunch is used preferentially by many diabetics due to the lower total carb content and the known positive effect of whey protein hydrolysates in their diet.

8. How many Weight Watchers points are in a Power Crunch cookie?
4 points.
