How many "Net Carbs" are in Power Crunch cookies?
There is no valid science or FDA approval behind the "Net Carb" statements on many products. The true amount of carbs in any product is listed in the Nutrition Facts Panel. With 8-9g of carbs, Power Crunch has by far lower total carbs (50-75% less) than other bars or cookie products on the market including Atkins and other "diet" products. Be sure to read the Nutrition Facts Panel for actual carb content instead of "Net Carb" advertising found elsewhere on the package.
Sugar alcohols lower the "Net Carbs".
Why don't you use sugar alcohol to lower Power Crunch "Net Carbs"?
With the exception of erythritol, which is rarely used due to taste and mouth feel issues, sugar alcohols (maltitol, glycerol, xylitol, mannitol, etc.) provide almost as many calories per gram as any other sugar or carbohydrate and are very hard on the stomach potentially causing gas pains, diarrhea and nausea. "Net Carb" statements are misleading and not accepted by the FDA or any reputable scientist due to this fact. Artificial sweeteners are the only sweeteners which are not carbohydrates and are actually calorie-free.
Why do some nutritional bars in the same general price class as Power Crunch contain more protein for about the same price?
Due to the di and tripeptide content of 100% pure high-DH hydrolysates in Proto Whey, the source of protein in Power Crunch, the relative nutritional value of protein in Power Crunch equates to up to double or triple that in other products.
